DEAD SEA SALT
It is a popular ingredient of many common bath products including bath salts, salt scrubs, foot scrubs, body wraps, soaps, and a wide variety of other cosmetic products, including makeup.
Salts from the Dead Sea have been legendary for centuries for their therapeutic and beatifying properties on the skin. Nothing like regular sea salt, Dead Sea salts are comprised of a wide variety of minerals which are present in a high concentration. Whereas regular sea salts is made up of over 90% sodium, salt from the Dead Sea is only about 10% sodium and the rest is made of minerals which are essential for the proper function and health of skin. Such minerals include Magnesium, Potassium, Bromine and Calcium to name a few.
Minerals from the Dead Sea:
Millions of years of evaporation have left the Dead Sea water saltier and denser than any other natural body of water, with a salt content 8 to 10 times that of the oceans. The sea offers a tremendous store of raw materials for industry and agriculture, extracted by local developers through a system of evaporation.
The medicinal potential of the Dead Sea region and the therapeutic properties of its water and the hot springs have been known for thousands of years. According to Josephus Flavius, a first-century historian, King Herod used to find relief for his aching body in the water of the hot springs in the area.
The Dead Sea is mentioned in connection with its healing qualities in the Bible as well. Later these healing qualities are mentioned in the writings of monks at different periods and acclaimed in countless local tales. Remnants of a roman aqueduct on the slopes of Ein Navait testify that the hot water of the spring was transported for use at the fortress nearby.
The natural curative factors which underlie the medicinal potential of the region are the mineral waters of the Dead Sea and the springs, the therapeutic mud, and the unique climate of the area.
The legend of how well Dead Sea salt works at helping skin look and feel younger, smoother as well as provide relaxation and skin ailment therapy dates back many thousands of years. For instance, over 2000 years ago - the Jewish Roman historian Flavius wrote the following about people's experience with Dead Sea bath salt: "The Dead Sea can not be praised too highly...travelers take as much of this salt as they are able to home with them because it heals the human body and is therefore used in many medicines."
Cleopatra - the queen of ancient beauty was legendary for her magically youthful looks throughout her whole life, even as she got older. The real secret to the beauty of her silky skin was the anti aging effect of bath salts, mud and cosmetics made with Dead Sea salt - which was gathered for her at the factories she had built on the shores of the sea. The ruins of those factories can still be seen today at Erin Brooke and Erin Geed and they stand as testimonials to the ageless beauty power of Dead Sea bath salt.
